Mid-Autumn centres on reunion, gratitude, and the image of the full moon. Earlier harvest celebrations gradually joined moon-viewing, family offerings, poetry, and the legend of Chang'e, the moon goddess. Today a small mooncake shared at home can carry the same feeling of distance, return, and togetherness.
