Story & background

Qixi is built around the story of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, two lovers separated by the Milky Way and allowed to meet once a year. Older traditions emphasise the Weaver Girl's skill, craft, and hopes for a good life; modern celebrations may also be romantic. The same story can therefore feel literary, practical, or contemporary depending on the audience.
